About Us
History
The BNPS Strings Program was established in 2002 by Mrs Helene Rosse, a violist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and parent at BNPS with a passion for teaching children music.
The program has grown from a single group lesson, to a training, intermediate and concert ensemble. It has also grown from only including violins, to including students who play violin, viola and cello.
Performance opportunities in recent years have included Rockdale Plaza, Winter Concert, Showcase and the strings highlight of every year, the Festival of Instrumental Music at the Opera House. Students who started in the BNPS strings program have played in the Sydney Regional Band, Sydney Youth Orchestras and the Arts Unit’s String Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestra.
